FUE Afro-Transplantation

According to global statistics, about 50% of women and 60% of men suffer from irreversible hair loss or androgenetic alopecia. These hair loss types are semi-natural processes that are only temporarily preventable with the help of medications. At this time in the cosmetic industry, hair transplant is the only treatment for combating irreversible hair loss or androgenetic alopecia. In the last decade, there was an introduction of a new hair transplant technique, FUE (follicular unit extraction), for hair transplant. Afro hair requires a more complex and precise FUE hair transplant procedure than those performed on straight hair. Therefore always choose a qualified surgeon for FUE hair transplant.

What Not To Eat Before Surgery

We've all heard the saying, "you are what you eat," but have you ever thought about how #diet affects blood loss during surgery? Eating certain foods pre-operative can prevent over-bleeding and complications while on the operating table. In this #blog, we'll be exploring which nutritional habits to avoid to keep your blood safe from unnecessary trauma. With a bit of wit and a ton of knowledge, let's take a look at what foods not to eat before your next operation!

Pre-operative Instructions

Please read this booklet carefully before the procedure, as it contains important information regarding your hair transplant surgery. Hair restoration is a delicate process, and you must understand the nature and the potential complications of this procedure. This will be explained to the patient during the initial consultation. Listed below are factors that should be considered to prepare for a hair transplant. Adherence to the following instructions will ensure you obtain the best possible result. Arriving at the clinic & what to expect: • Fill out consent forms • Consultation with the doctor • Change into a clinical gown • Pre-operative photographs taken to monitor progress (alternative form provided if you give consent to use your pictures on social media/websites) • The surgery may take up to 4-6 hours • Post-operative photographs to be taken • Post-operative consultation with the doctor • Prescriptions issued by the doctor and aftercare bags will be provided. Alcohol Consumption Consumption of alcohol up to 48 hours before the hair transplant is prohibited. Alcohol is blood-thinning and can increase blood loss during a hair transplant. Smoking Tobacco is terrible for the body’s healing mechanism and will impact the results of a hair transplant. Ensure you decrease tobacco consumption a week before the procedure and stop tobacco usage up to 48 hours before your hair transplant. Adhere to the guidelines to prevent your chance of infection and avoid delayed healing. Colouring or Hair Dye If you usually dye your hair, please ensure it is done three days before the surgery. Caffeine Caffeine is blood-thinning, similar to alcohol and tobacco. Thus substances containing caffeine, i.e. coffee, should not be consumed up to 48 hours before surgery, as it can increase bleeding and sensitivity to medications.

Channelling is a technique used in hair transplant procedures. It involves creating tiny incisions or channels in the recipient area of the scalp where the hair follicles will be implanted. These channels are carefully made to ensure the proper angle, depth, and direction of hair growth. The purpose of channelling is to create a natural and aesthetically pleasing result. The size and direction of the channels are crucial in determining the final appearance of the transplanted hair. The surgeon must consider factors such as the patient’s hairline, hair density, and desired outcome. During the channelling process, the surgeon uses specialised tools to create the incisions. The depth and angle of the channels are customised based on the patient’s specific needs. This technique allows for precise placement of individual hair follicles, ensuring a natural-looking hairline and overall hair distribution. Channelling is an essential step in the hair transplant, as it greatly influences the outcome. The skill and experience of the surgeon play a significant role in creating the channels and achieving a successful hair transplant result.
